I have taken on a new project recently. There is a support group for families affected by Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) here in Austin called Milagros. It was run mostly by two nurses from the children's hospital here. They decided that it had grown so much that it was time that parents run it. They emailed this nice, sweet email asking if anybody wants to be involved in this new group. I emailed the nurse and told her "I'd be happy to help where ever you need me." Well, here I am running this new organization. This week I sent a Nonprofit Corporation application to the Secretary of State's office and signed my name at the bottom of the organizations' Articles of Incorporation. I frankly just wanted to help stuff the hospital comfort bags with Skittles and tissue and other items of support for the CHD families. Anyway, I'm excited to be involved with this group. We've actually become a chapter of a larger group from Houston called It's My Heart. They are updating the web site within the next week so I'll wait until it's complete to put a link on my blog.

Hi Marty...I'm wondering if there is something my YW can do to help your Milagros group? Can they use blankets or care packages? Sometime after the first of the year I'm sure we'll be needing a service project. Let me know how we can help!

Marty, just found your blog from a link on Katy's. You're amazing. If there's ever anything I can do to help with Milagros, please let me know. I'd love to help out.
