Last night I made some mashed potatoes--not unusual for a Sunday dinner. Will has never liked any form of potatoes. Sometimes when I would remind him that french fries were potatoes, he would even stop eating them. But, in the last year, I've decided to kind of ignore all of the things he says he doesn't like (cheese, potatoes, eggs, etc) and just not make a big deal out of it. He would tell me that he was a picky eater and I would ignore it. I'd put potatoes on his plate and just go on with dinner. I have to say I've noticed that he has tried potatoes the last few weeks, but I didn't say anything about it. Anyway, last night I was finishing the potatoes to put in the serving bowl and Will came into the kitchen to see what I was doing. He saw the remnants of the potatoes, put his finger in and tasted them and said, "Mom, these are heavenly. I love mashed potatoes!" Holy cow. I never thought I would hear Will say those words. So, just goes to show, it can take 9-12 or even 30 times for kids to get a taste for things. Just don't make it a battle, and you may just win!

My kids were the same way about potatoes and I just couldn't understand why! I think mashed potatoes are heavenly! But same thing slowly, over time they have grown to like them (not love...yet!)
mmm...mashed potatoes...is there really a wrong way to fix a potato? probably not. but mashed is certainly among the best. so relieved Will has seen the light! ;)
That gives me great hope for my Scott. He has gone to bed many a nights without eating any dinner. I bought some tater tots the other day and told him it was like a chicken nugget on the outside and a baked potatoe on the inside (two foods he agrees to eat). I got him to eat one! (that was a break through)! Hope you are doing well!
Ben doesn't like potatoes either! Crazy!
